How can people who have fought for their freedom for so many years be allowed to be defeated? Mr. Assad is a war criminal.  He deserves to be tried and convicted in an international court, not to be given sovereignty over a country which he has tortured for the sake of his own power.   If he is not stopped, others will follow his example.  The United States' claim to be a democracy whose main principle is the human right to freedom is a lie if we let this happen.  We are not a democracy if we are bystanders to this atrocity; we are pretentious, imperialist deceivers, of ourselves and of everyone else who is naive enough to believe us.

This is the most recent onslaught; in train stations and on the sides of public buses. Does the Institute want money?  Does it want donations from wealthy people and organizations that have persecuted me for almost a decade?   Is that why it does these things?  I can't think of another motivation; I HAVE NEVER DONE ANYTHING TO THE INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART.   

Have the world's democracies admitted defeat of what are supposed to be our principles? Fine.  I hope that everyone in the developed nations enjoys what he or she buys, spends, watches on TV, or otherwise mindlessly gorges on today, while hundreds of thousands of people who thought they could trust us to defend them if they took the initiative to fight for their freedom are tortured, murdered and enslaved.

The country doesn't need media creations.  It needs people who know what the world is all about, from having lived in it for a while.   For some things, youth is overrated.  High-level political office is one of those things.   It is also unfair to place people in situations for which they are unprepared. Older people recognize patterns of behavior because they have lived for enough time to have encountered them over and over again.  They can anticipate what people are going to think and do, individually and among groups.  They're not always right, but they are less vulnerable to being surprised, which is really important, particularly in politics.

Let's demonize ALL the men; that's progress, isn't it?  Demonizing entire groups of people based on their gender? I'm a Democrat, and at least Ms. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has an education that I think is appropriate for someone who wants to work for the government. However, she has never held public office before.  She is 28 years old, which mean that she doesn't have the life experience of her opponents.  Finally, she owes her victory to the New York Times' editorial board, which presented Mr. Crowley dishonestly.
