I think Mr. Baldwin might need to reread the many summaries of To Kill a Mockingbird that are available online for those of high school age, physically or mentally, who have never read it or never understood it.  

By the way, Mayella Ewell is beaten up by her father.  Mr. Ewell then accuses Tom Robinson of having raped Mayella, and Mr. Ewell forces Mayella to testify against Tom Robinson in court.  

Atticus Finch's questioning of Mayella in court proves that Tom Robinson couldn't have bruised the right side of her face, because his left arm was crippled by a cotton gin when he was younger.  

Although Atticus proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that Tom Robinson is innocent, the jury gives a guilty verdict to Tom Robinson because he is black and the Ewells are white.

Atticus wants to appeal the verdict, but Tom Robinson is killed while trying to escape from prison after the trial.

Mr. Ewell feels humiliated by Atticus having proven that he was lying, so he tries to kill Atticus' children, Scout and Jem.

This picture was a joke about me, wasn't it?
